Boxing as a type of specialization at the Department of Weightlifting was opened in 1946. One of the first teachers of KazIFK were the repeated champions of the republic I.Khasanov, G.Rozhkov, A.Karpov. At the Spartakiad of the republics of Central Asia and Kazakhstan, as well as in competitions with the strongest boxers of the country, they demonstrated mature skills and became winners. The best boxers of the Institute of Physical Education were known not only in our country. For example, G.Rozhkov was a prize-winner of the Student Games in Bucharest, V. Karimov, A. Kadetov, M. Omarov, I. Khasanov is the winner of various international competitions.

In 1959, A.Kadetov became the champion of the II Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR. Young talented boxers are gaining recognition in the All-Union ring:I.Gildin, V.Lopatnikov, M.Omargaliev, A.Nurmakhanov and others.Students of the Institute of Physical Education become prize-winners of the All-Union Universiade in 1961, in Tbilisi. The team consisted of V.Lopatnikov, A.Nurmakhanov, I.Gildin, S.Lieberman, M.Omargaliev, S.Abdenaliev, G. Zharylgapov, J. Tulegenov, K. Nurgazin. At the III Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR in 1963, A. Nurmakhanov became a bronze medalist, and at the I Asian Games “Ganefo”, in Jakarta, he won a gold medal.

From 1970 to 2024, the department has trained more than 160 masters of sports in boxing, weightlifting, arm wrestling and powerlifting. Among them are world champion V.Rachkov, J.Alimkhanuly, N.Kyzaybai, D.Yeleusinov, E. Gunko, A.Nurlybekova, R.Meyer, D.Ustinov, N. Adiletuly, Olympic champions and medalists V.Demyanenko, B. Zhumadilov, E. Ibraimov, B.Artaev, B.Sarsekbayev, S.Sapiev, D. Shakimova, D.Yeleusinov, I.Ilyin, participant of the Olympic Games in Atlanta 1996, M.Yurchenko, winner of the Friendly Armies Games 1993, T. Berdibekov, and champion of the Asian Games 2010. S.Khasenova, silver medalist of the 2013 World Universiade R.Rustamov, etc.

An international boxing tournament among students is held every year. In 2010, Ermakhan Ibraimov, the 2000 Olympic Champion, defended his PhD thesis for the degree of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences. At the Department of Boxing, Weightlifting and Martial Arts, in addition to the specializations of boxing, weightlifting and martial arts, students study in the specializations of bodybuilding, arm wrestling and powerlifting. In arm wrestling, Baranov V, Molgadar A, Momuch-ogly R. – master of sports of international class, winners of the World and Asian championships.
