Educational and Methodological Work of the Department of Athletics
The main focus of the department’s activities is educational and methodological work. The Department of Athletics teaches academic disciplines in athletics, sport, and physical education. The objectives of the department’s disciplines within the specialty “Physical Education and Sport” are to provide future bachelor’s degree students with the necessary knowledge and skills that enable them to rationally use the biological capabilities of the human body to achieve and maintain high athletic performance, strengthen the health of trainees, competently implement health-improving and sports education programs, and effectively conduct training and competitive sporting events.
The department has a modern material and technical base that makes it possible to train qualified specialists in various sports. The education of students and master’s degree students is carried out using a credit-based system. In accordance with its requirements, educational and methodological complexes of disciplines have been developed on the basis of state educational standards and standard educational programs.
In the teaching process, the faculty of the department uses innovative interactive teaching technologies:
– lectures with multimedia support (video, audio);
– during laboratory and practical classes, technical teaching aids (video, audio, media libraries), instruments and equipment, athletics equipment, and training devices are actively used.
Various types of technical support, innovative technologies and teaching methods, as well as role-playing and business games are widely used in the training process of students and master’s degree students.
The department is equipped with:
– 2 educational and methodological classrooms;
– 2 specialized stadiums.
The faculty members of the department are authors of standard curricula for the discipline “Athletics,” as well as for basic and specialized subjects. Educational and industrial practice for students and master’s degree students studying in the specialty “Physical Education and Sport” is carried out in accordance with the program and the academic schedule. Training is conducted in full-time study formats as well as through distance learning technologies.
The department’s educational and methodological commission (Kh. K. Untaev, P. A. Delver, V. N. Akimov, V. N. Avsievich) determines the main directions of this work and approves work programs, tests, examination materials, and lecture texts. Based on standard programs, the department’s teachers have developed working curricula for the main disciplines using the credit system—9 educational and methodological complexes in athletics, syllabi for first-year students in the discipline “Athletics” in both the state and Russian languages, as well as handout materials prepared for the development of elective.
