Starting from April 23, 2026, the fourth day of the implementation of the international project “Development of Practical Competencies in Serving People with Disabilities” began at KazAST. The project is carried out within the framework of the RITA (Region in Transition) program. It is co-financed by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation as part of the RITA program – “Region in Transition,” implemented by the Education for Democracy Foundation.
In the first half of the day, Polish specialists delivered a lecture on first aid based on the recommendations of the European Resuscitation Council. Aleksander and Tatyana Skali, lecturers at WSG Bydgoszcz University, presented the theoretical background and demonstrated the practical application of emergency care in cases of cardiac or respiratory arrest, showing techniques on a mannequin and volunteers from among KazAST students. A practical session was also held on BLS, the use of AEDs, and the recovery position. At the end of the lecture, the instructors answered participants’ questions.
At the same time, the seminar “Best Practices in Sport Management” was conducted by project executive Filip Wiśniewski. He shared his experience in implementing sports management practices in the European Union, using the example of managing a sports organization in Poland. The event attracted the attention of both faculty members and students of KazAST.
Project instructors Karolina Paradowska and Valeria Khubina conducted a fitness session for KazAST students specializing in relevant fields.
After lunch, in the new wrestling pavilion, the entire project team demonstrated first aid skills to all interested participants, including KazAST faculty and students, using mannequins from the Norwegian company Laerdal Medical AS and Polish defibrillators. These devices can be used by people without medical education to assist in cases of cardiac arrest in public places. The sessions generated significant interest, and all participants gained valuable knowledge that can help in emergency situations threatening the life and health of citizens of Kazakhstan.
