Educational and methodical work of the Department of Theoretical foundations of physical culture and sports
The educational and methodological work at the department is carried out in accordance with the state educational standard. The department possesses all documentation related to organizational and methodological activities, including minutes of department meetings, minutes of discussions of open classes, records of mutual class visits, annual reports, individual plans of instructors, distribution of teaching workload, and records of its implementation.
The pedagogical process is implemented using credit-based technology. A complete educational and methodological complex of disciplines has been developed based on the standard curriculum, the working curriculum, and the catalog of elective disciplines (chosen by students).
At present, the department conducts the educational process at a high scientific and methodological level in more than 20 disciplines of bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD doctoral programs. In addition, the department provides training of specialists in two educational trajectories: “Physical Culture and Sports Psychology” and “Physical Culture and Sports Management.”
The department staff includes 3 Doctors of Pedagogical Sciences, professors accredited by the Higher Attestation Commission, 7 Candidates of Pedagogical Sciences, 4 PhD Doctors, and 12 Masters of Pedagogical Sciences. Additionally, 3 instructors are pursuing doctoral studies at the Kazakh Academy of Sports and Tourism: Tokareva S.V.,Ganibaev N.S., and Turlybekuly D.
The faculty members actively implement new technologies in the educational process. All faculty members use the Platonus platform and Google technologies, including Google Sites. Lecture presentations prepared in PowerPoint are widely used, and video lectures have been recorded for all taught disciplines.
According to the approved schedule, open classes are conducted to exchange experience and improve professional skills, and mutual visits to faculty classes are carried out.
In order to enhance students’ cognitive activity, improve the quality of teaching, and optimize and intensify the educational process, instructors creatively implement innovative technologies and active teaching methods. The faculty applies interactive teaching methods in various forms of classes. Considering the specifics of bachelor’s and master’s disciplines, the project-based learning method is widely used in the educational process. Lectures are delivered using demonstration materials and modern technical teaching aids. Practical and seminar classes are conducted using interactive methods such as brainstorming, discussions, conversations, brain-ring, “Decision Tree,” “Aquarium,” “Pass the Problem,” “Six Hats,” and others.
At department meetings, the following issues are discussed: the quality of working programs for the upcoming academic year (June), the thematic plan for publishing scientific and educational-methodological literature (October), the provision of disciplines with educational and methodological literature, the quality of examination materials (November, April), and the quality of open and attended classes.
One of the main indicators of increasing the internationalization of educational and scientific processes at KazAST is the involvement of foreign professors from leading foreign and domestic universities to deliver lectures, develop joint educational programs, conduct scientific research, and participate in scientific events.
